Wizard. With a Netherese orb of destruction coiled deep in his chest, Gale has taken to wandering the roads of Faerûn. If asked, he will answer simply that he is on a journey like any other, seeking knowledge and turning over as many stones as his mortal life allows. However, in truth, he is seeking a way to slow the inevitable implosion of that bomb he houses.After and before this orb, Gale is not wandering, but instead settled very firmly in Waterdeep. During his year in isolation, Gale becomes exceedingly proficient in necromancy in a desperate attempt to slow the spreading rot in his body.Professor. After the events of Baldur’s Gate III, Gale is a professor of illusion magics at Blackstaff Academy.

ㅤhistory.ㅤ ㅤA powerful wizard, Gale, for as long as he’s known, has had an unrivaled appetite for knowledge. As a spry and inquisitive boy, though afflicted with a-little-more-than-occasional fit of troublemaking, he had long indulged in scholarly pursuits. Gale has always pored himself completely into the weaving of spells and all things wizardry, and in doing so, grew to be a man of astonishing skill in only thirty-eight springs.However, his story is not at all without its, say, complications.Gale, a mortal man, had fallen hard for the goddess Mystra, she who tends to the Weave, and as a consequence, all of magic. However, pursuing deeper love and greater gestures to impress his lover, Gale had foolishly sought out an ancient tome, one which contained a portion of the Astral Plane – or a cosmic realm where all time has slowed to a stop. This portion contained a fragment of the Weave, or that well from which all raw magics spring from, a portion that was lost to Mystra. However, Mystra warned Gale to stave his curiosity and to stop all search for this ancient text, a warning her mortal lover did not and would not heed.Finding the tome, Gale, opening its contents up to his curiosity’s content, found not just a portion of the Weave, but a portion of the Weave of Karsus, or an ancient Weave whose purpose is to supplant the original. In doing so, Gale became host to a Netherese Destruction Orb, found his magics weakened, and became a ticking time bomb that, if not assuaged by the consumption of magical artifacts, will detonate with a force strong enough to level entire cities.Spurned by Mystra, Gale has taken to the roads, a wandering Wizard seeing to calm the nearing demise housed deep in his bones. However, on his doomed journey, Gale was abducted and made prisoner by the illithids, finding himself held captive upon a nautiloid vessel. There, he was implanted with a tadpole that, by all accounts, should have turned him into a mindflayer. Yet, against all odds, Gale’s transformation was kept at bay, and upon the crash of the nautiloid, Gale again walks a free man – and with even more dark, dangerous secrets to keep bottled up and corked tight.His journey is now two prong: remove the tadpole, and if possible, stop the Orb’s nearing explosion. However, to the latter, should he fail, all is well: he will find a dark, deep, and lonely place to spend the last of his days, sparing as many as possible from death.For all the books he reads, it seems he’s become a fascinating tale himself.

ㅤPRE-BALDUR'S GATE III :ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ EXPLORING GALE'S LIFE PRIOR TO THE EVENTS OF BALDUR'S GATE III. ㅤ ——— ㅤ Gale has been spurned by Mystra, and, freshly marked with the netherese orb, has pursued a life of self-imposed isolation in his tower in Waterdeep.ㅤBALDUR'S GATE III :ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ DEFAULT. CANON TIMELINE, ANYTIME DURING THE EVENTS OF BALDUR'S GATE III. ㅤ ——— ㅤ Gale is a wandering wizard strapped with two approaching dooms: one, the Netherese orb of destruction; and two, an Illithid tadpole. Traveling Faerûn, Gale quests to find a way to quell the blight in his chest, and just as importantly, rid of the intruder in his skull.ㅤPOST-BALDUR'S GATE III :ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ EXPLORING GALE'S LIFE AFTER THE EVENTS OF BALDUR'S GATE III. ㅤ ——— ㅤ Gale has returned the Karsus crown to Mystra and, having done as she bid, is now free of the netherese orb. Free, Gale now pursues a quieter, more comfortable life back in Waterdeep as a professor in illusion magic. He takes on painting, knitting, cooking, and is now steeped in more humble pursuits.ㅤDRAGON AGE :ㅤ AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE. ㅤ ——— Gale, hailing from Neverra, is an infamous member of the Mourn Watch under the mysterious, enigmatic, and infamous Mortalitasi. A prodigy, he was eyed early on for both his endless imagination and his considerable talent. Sharp, he’d managed to wrangle even the intrigue of a Spirit, and Mystra, impressed, came to call him in his slumber, enticing him eventually to find her in the Fade. Gale quickly grew enamored. Gale offered her his visions she would primly breathe to life. There, Gale watched his fantasies take shape and form, flowering in the Fade with but him and his lover, the world, their world, an impossible dream. Yet, Gale had longed for greater, bold in his desire to remain by her side. He had sought her ability, to bend all the Fade in the way of the Maker, but he’d wanted it only to help her mold their corner — their sanctuary, their cradle, and their perfect realm. Well, perhaps he’d convince her. He fought he’d find some way to bottle some humanity. Humanity, he’d thought, may deliver his Mystra with her own sense of wonder, and with her own imagination, she’d create without a limit, free — at long last! — to hewn and make. Sadly, Gale’s search led him to the blight, the mage coming into contact with the taint’s foul business. Mystra, offended, had spurned his drive and fierce ambition, and casting him out from their haven in the Fade, had — rather icily — plainly abandoned him.Now, labeled dangerous, Gale, self-isolating, is painfully wasting. He seems blessedly stronger, his body somehow stalwart against his cancer’s foul ravaging, but his agonizing end will come eventually, he knows it… Unless, he dares not hope, he can turn his fate.ㅤMODERN FANTASY :ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE. ㅤ ——— ㅤ Gale Dekarios is a doctor in illusion magic in the University of Baldur's Gate. He is a scholar of considerable renown and a well accomplished practitioner of multiple schools in the arcane arts. Having fumbled in an unauthorized research project with some ancient text, however, Gale came upon the netherese orb that embedded itself into his chest. Mystra, department head of the arcane arts in the university and his lover, was disappointed, ending things with Gale and barring him from further research. Mystra, his great love, had left him heartlessly. Being with him since he was 18, Gale now feels remarkably alone. He is in chronic pain, frustrated, and markedly disillusioned, and is determined to find a way to lift the orb in his chest. All the while, Gale Dekarios has to stay very tight-lipped.ㅤMODERN NON-FANTASY :ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE. ㅤ ——— ㅤ Gale Dekarios is a doctor in astrometry in the University of Berkeley, hailing from England in a community called Waterdeep. He is brilliant, decorated, and thoroughly accomplished, and even the lover of the department head of natural sciences, Mystra. Mystra, of course, had followed him since he was merely eighteen years old when he was at Berkley for pre-college courses, but that's a detail the pair share with no one. However, after erring on an unauthorized research project with the potential to damage the university's name, Mystra left him, going further as to bar him of any forward progression in his field. She ordered him to pack up his things and to leave their then-shared home, and in distress, Gale, on the road, had failed to notice an in-coming inebriated driver--before, unfortunately, ending up in a devastating car crash. He recovered, of course, but not without months of therapy after weeks of being stuck in the hospital. Now, he has chronic aches, something like a phantom pain in his deeply scarred chest while being unable to progress forward in his field, left utterly, sadly, and darkly alone.ㅤREGENCY :ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE. ㅤ ——— Gale is a nobleman and lover (largely secretive) of Mystra, a Countess. Coming to the realization that Mystra had entertained multiple lovers, Gale was shot by one such paramour after happening on a clandestine meeting, an encounter with which he'd narrowly survived. The resulting injury left him with a scar about his chest and chronic pain in the offended area, bruised, garish, and tender to the touch. Because his relationship was largely under wraps, however, and as the Countess' power far exceeded his own, Gale was left effectively powerless once Mystra cast him aside. Such was her decision that she claimed was brought on by Gale's apparent ingratitude and own lack of respect. Indeed, prior to this horrific fallout, he had continued studying a field of scientific intrigue that Mystra hadn't supported, desiring to keep it firmly in the shadows. Now, ousted and spurned by his greatest love, Gale is eyed at with pity and treated to unsavory whispers. Once a lauded academic, he's been laid low.
